DEUX Copycat Peanut Butter Cup Cookie Dough That You Can Eat Raw

Self-control separates us from animals…unless raw cookie dough is present. We know it could give us food poisoning, but our caveman brains can’t resist it.

No matter how good raw cookie dough tastes, I always regret eating it. There’s the fear of salmonella, and the concentrated sugariness leaves me feeling bleh. Worst case scenario–the raw dough spoils my appetite for the baked cookies.

There’s a better way. A brand called EAT DEUX developed a cookie dough that you can eat raw, and it’s packed with not-so-bleh ingredients. Think oat flour, almond butter, maple syrup, and flax seeds.

I’ve never tried this dough, and I don’t have it in me to pay $15 for a jar. But the positive feedback from DEUX’s customers made me think I should try my hand at a copycat dough.

Verdict: it was worth it–but don’t expect a bite of Tollhouse. A standard raw dough with plain flour and butter zips right past your mouth. It’s sweet and delicious one second, it’s over the next.

This dough’s nutty and caramel-y flavors linger as you chew through the oat flour. Despite the wholesome ingredients, each bite tastes indulgent (especially when you get a chocolate chunk).

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup peanut butter

  • 2 tbsp maple syrup

  • 2 tbsp water

  • 3 tbsp coconut sugar

  • 1/2 cup oat flour

  • 2 tbsp ground flax seeds

  • Pinch of salt

  • 1/4 cup + 1 tbsp semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions

  • In a medium-sized bowl, add the peanut butter, maple syrup, water, and coconut sugar. Mix together with a rubber spatula.
  • Add the oat flour, ground flax, and salt to the bowl. Mix again with the rubber spatula until the mixture forms into a dough. It may look wet at first, but keep stirring—it will come together. Use hands to combine the mixture, if needed.
  • Taste the dough and adjust to your liking. Add more oat flour for a thicker consistency, a drop of water for a thinner consistency, maple syrup or coconut sugar for more sweetness, and salt for more saltiness.
  • Once the dough is to your liking, add the chocolate chips. Stir.
  • Roll the dough into balls, or eat by the spoon. Enjoy! Store in a well-sealed container in the fridge.
